ISTMP supports ISC's promotion of tolerance, good will and understanding in our increasingly global world.
Having actual experiences with Americans help open doors and opportunities to students while tutors/mentors gain knowledge and better understanding of other cultures.
Through the International Student Center, tutors/mentors enlist students as ambassadors to return to their native countries and talk to their friends and families about their real time hands on experience with an American family.
Through this program, students improve their overall academic performance, understand cross-cultural differences and enhances their life experiences while in America.
Given the relationships built, the program can ensure the image conveyed about USA and its people is a positive one.
What can be more satisfying than a long lasting friendship between people from all over the globe.

Our Students

SDSU ISTMP student members come from various parts of the world such as:

Africa (Ghana, Mauritius, Morocco, etc.)
Asia (Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, etc.)
Caribbean (Cuba and Dominican Republic, etc.)
South and Central America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, etc.)
Europe (Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, etc.)
North America (Mexico, etc.)
Oceania (Australia, Tonga, etc.)

The program serves students between the ages of 20 to 39 with academic majors ranging from Engineering, Educational Technology, Arts and Sciences to Business Administration and Finance. Students are here for a minimum of one semester and may stay for as long as five to six years to obtain their undergrad, graduate and post graduate degrees. The program also serves scholars and/or career professionals who are here for further enhancement of their academic and professional skills.
